»» THE TEAMS ARE FINALIZED 11.12.03
  • After several surprises, catastrophies, and phone calls, the teams are finally set for this year with minimal changes. Check the team link are the injury report for the specifics.
  • »» ANNUAL TURKET BOWL FEE 11.12.03
  • Listen up chumps, its the annual Turkey Bowl fee. This is only going to be $5 each so don't be whining. This will take care of maintiaining and updating the trophy so it can actually go to the winners form now on, as well as the victory turkey and the pie for Mr. Galley. If there is a surplus of funds, it can be pooled together for future use as well as beer. SO ON TURKEY DAY DONT TRY AND STIFF THE GUYS WHO BUST THEIR ASS TO GET EACH GAME TO BE SWEET, AND BRING THE GODDAMN MONEY.
  • »» MEGA POWERS GET THEIR FIRST TURKEY BOWL VICTORY 12.1.02
  • This years bowl was another great game. The Mega Powers defeated the Assassins for the first time in the history of the tradition by the score of 14-0. It was a defensive struggle to say the least. Can't wait till next year boys. Keep checkin the site, this years pictures will be up as soon as possible.

    » RULE CHANGES
  • FIRST DOWNS - This year we will be shortening the first downs from an endless 20 yards to the regular 10. This should boost up the scoring and make the game more interesting. We've become older and wiser and the big bombs that use to happen every drive just don't come around as often.
  • CLOCK - If my memory serves me correctly, last year we started with 10 minute quarters,(regular clock stoppages and what not) but then we made it the full 15 minutes after half time. I suppose we will just go ahead then and play a full 60 minute game if everyone is cool with that. Voice opinions on the message board.
    » PRE-GAME
  • TEAM ANNOUNCMENTS and COIN TOSS - The idea about announcing the teams before hand has been discussed. Mostly its because Militello wants to bust out some dance moves,. but it may be fun to do anyway. We'll have some one announce each starting line up and we'll enter through the "tunnel" ( a few dead trees) and slap hands at mid field. When both teams arrive we'll shake hands and say good luck and then Patti will lead the ceremonial coin toss with just the team captains. Also, its been suggested to play the anthem in past years. Discuss it on the board if you think this all sounds cool, or if its just mega gay.

    » SCRATCHES FOR T-DAY
  • OUT - Paul Mach - Assassins - the starting center seperated his shoulder last week while trying to tell a joke that just wasn't going over to well. The infamously jolly, but not funy, Mach then tried resorting to charades. While doing a stupid dance he aparently tripped over himself, flipped head over heals and landed directly on his shoulder. Witnesses claim that following the fiasco, Paul was heard to have been yeling "TERRY! TERRY!" Investigators are baffled as to what this "terry" call means. Paul does plan to show up for the game though. When speaking with his agent we learned of his intentions: "My client will be there in full attendence. Whether it is to ref of just hold first down markers, his presence wil be fealt. Plus my player can't afford to miss an opportunity to ruin a pregame speech." Eric Doering makes his return this year and second year player Ryan Mckernan will also particpate which will fill the void Paul's injury leaves.
  • HEALTHY SCRATCH - Mike Huntz - Mega Powers - The starting WR/CB will be absent this year due to personal reasons. Reliable sources report that this may have something to do with new break through in african american skull research at the University of Oklahoma where Mike is reportedly spending his Thanksgiving. When Evan Smith was asked about the contraversial issue he replied "I don't know about the whole skull theory, but if you ask me, its no coincidence that the NAACP is holding an equal rights rally this Thanksgiving in Oklahona and Huntz is no where to be found in B-Lo."

    »ONE ON ONE
  • CHRIS KULINKSI vs JOE MILITELLO - With the absence of Huntzy, the game will lack the now infamous Mookie vs Michael rivalry. Militello needs to step up and and shut down the speedy litttle snake and make sure the legendary, (but long extinct) Kulinski to Ward connection doesn't make a Sonny and Cher type comeback. Can Mili focus enough on Chris with his life long rival Doering making the largely anticipated return, or will he be too destracted? We won't know the answer to that question until someone is eating victory turkey.
  • MARK VASTOLA vs SEAN NOWADLY - Its a huge part of the game every year. Frankly I'm getting a little sick and tired of typing about it but you can't deny what an impact each player can have. Word on the streets says that the Brockport boys Vastola and Delbert are in the best shape of their lives, and hungry after last years debacle. You better believe that the V-ster will show up to play. Nowadly needs to neutralize his speed and game breaking ability if he wants to taste the turkey again. Wads has thrown down the smokes and is taking his vitamens and sayin' his prayers. In other words, its two focused and determined athletes in a head on collision.
  • TOM SICKLER vs RYAN MCKERNAN - We're not expecting these two to compete against each other directly, but they will both be fighting for attention. Tom Sickler makes his Turkey Bowl debut. History is not on Tom's side, as most rookie's games to date were poor or non impact performances. Ryan Mckernan is playing in his second bowl this year though, so he does not face the rookie curse, but will he feel the sophomore slump? My predictions is that which ever one of these two has the bigger game will be holding a big leg of victory turkey in his hands at 1 o'clock.
  • O -LINE vs D-LINE - Its an old cliche but it can't be more true. The game is won and lost in the trenches baby. The Assassins suffered a crucil injury at that position with P Mach, so they need to fill the void. The return of Eric Doering couldn't have come at a better time. Both lines have been consistantly successful at pressuring the opposing QB, especially the tenacious trio of Borsuk, Druzbik, and Trawinski (BDT, what do ya know) , as well a Mr. Mark Ward and Jeff Delbert on the other side of the ball. Which ever O-Line gives their QB more time in the pocket has my vote as predicted Turkey Bowl champions.
  • » Keys to a Championship
    »ASSASSINS
  • BRING THE PASSION - Last year the Asassins seemed to0 frustrated to care. They need to return to the days of glory with a good effort. They can't give up after 2 series against a very good Mega Power defense.
  • PRESSURE NOWADLY - Don't give Nowadly time to throw, or turn a botched play into a big QB run.
  • LET THE STARS SHINE - Get the ball into Mark Vastola's hands, and let Delbert pound the shit out of the Mega Powers D. Then, let Doering go hardcore on the other side of the ball.
  • REVIVE THE CONNECTION - Whats been missing for two years? Its the Ward to Kulinski connection. It must be brought off life support if the Assassins want to move the ball effectively
  • PLAY LIKE A TEAM - Too often we see arguements in the Assassin huddle about whose playin line or going out to catch a ball. Each player must know their role. But, incidently, they can't let players rott on the line either. A guy like Nowak is an excellent receiver, but often gets over shadowed by Kulinski and Vastola.
  • »MEGA POWERS
  • STICK TO THE GAME PLAN - The Mega Powers have been known to panic and throw the game plan out the window. They must keep their composer and focus if they plan on winning.
  • FILL THE VOID - Losing Huntz to prior engagements is huge. They must find a way to compensate for his absence on both sides of the ball.
  • DON'T GIVE UP THE BIG PLAYS - Defensively the Mega Powers have always been strong, if you ignore the big plays they give up. They seem to thrive on stuffing the small stuff, only to give a huge play on the next series.
  • RESPECT THE OPPONENT - After the Mega Powers brought home the victory turkey last year, they certainly do possess the swagger. They must remain humble and realize that they've only won once, and they are facing an angry opponent.
  • RECOGNIZE THE IMPROVEMENT - With the return of Doering, the Assassins are a much improved team. He brings intensity and intelligence to the table. They must know their opponents strengths and exploit their weeknesses.
